...for. It's the refresh rate and interlace vs. progressive settings that are making things more complicated. Most monitors don't have "native" refresh rates. They are more flexible. All the choices have trade offs:
1920x1080 (interlaced) 50Hz: This is the refresh rate used by standard definition broadcast TV in Europe. It limits you to a frame rate of 25 FPS. That's fine if you are watching PAL programing, but might be unsuitable for movies or US TV programming.
1920x1080 (progressive) 50Hz: This is a bit better, since it's progressive, but it's still a poor match for 24 FPS movies, 30 FPS (US) TV, and 60 FPS (US) HDTV.
1920x1080 (progressive) 24Hz: This is great for 24 FPS movies, less great for 25 FPS PAL TV, terrible for 30 FPS standard def US broadcasts, and entirely unsuitable for 60 FPS content.
